Today, we did the tourist thing and went shopping in Bar Harbor. When we stopped for lunch, not only did Mom & Dad enjoy a local beer neither of us had heard of, but we also found a little taste of home!
Lena had not been feeling well the last few days, but last night we had a bit of scare when her fever spiked to 103 degrees. Luckily, we were able to bring it down with a lukewarm bath and some tylenol so we didn't have to drive to the emergency room in Ellsworth.
Today was a beautiful day in downtown Southwest Harbor. Unfortunately many folks were without power after the big storm blew through, but we still managed to find a place serving up some lobster rolls! Aunt Evee even manged to bake an apple crisp on the grill (since the oven was electric, it wasn't an option) with apples blown off the trees overnight.
Today, we walked down to the rock beach near Mayplace. Hurricane Irene made it rather soggy today, but after the drought and heat in Texas, it's a welcome change!
Today Lena met her great-grandparents, Rosie and DaDee at Mayplace. Then we went on a hike around Jordan pond with Uncle Owen and our soon-to-be Aunt Evee and Oma. Tea and popovers with the whole family followed. Yummy!
Today, Lena moved up to the next class at school. She's enjoying her first day with her new teacher with music class and a buggy ride. And it isn't even lunch yet! Hooray, school is FUN!
Finally, we ended our morning with a little time on the playground swing. We had such a good time, we are sure to come back when the weather is cooler!
We camped with Dave Horrell and his family at Palmetto State Park last night. It was Lena's first time staying in the camper. She enjoyed it!
We took a nice walk in the morning. It's been so dry, the river was very low. But there was still plenty of wildlife - racoons, deer, armadillos, and lots of birds.
Per Poppa's request, herein lies several catch-up posts from June. Those of you following Momma's Picasa photostream will have seen these already. Those who are not - enjoy all the cuteness that follows!
